First dutch translation of this work compiled and published by Abbé Le Mascrier from the memoirs of Benoît de Maillet (1656-1738), French consul in Egypt and a writer on geological and evolutionary matters. Complete with the portrait of Benoit de Maillet by De La Croix, a folding map of Egypt and seven engravings. Much more than a travel book, this study informs us about all aspects of this country and its inhabitants, clearly summarizing all the knowledge of Egypt at the time.
