First edition of this extensive study of cisticolas in Africa by the ornithologist Rear Admiral Hubert Lynes (1874-1942), with a presentation inscription from the author to Baron van Zuylen and a letter by van Zuylen to another recipient. Lynes’ work was well received and he was awarded the Godman-Salvin Medal for his contributions to the study of African ornithology. A species of bird in the family Cisticolidae found in Uganda and Kenya is named after Lynes.
