John le Carré is the pen name of David John Moore Cornwell (1931-2020), a British author of espionage novels who gained international success with his third novel The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1963). Often drawing from his own experience as an intelligence officer for the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) during the 1950s and 1960s, le Carré’s literary career spans over 60 years with 26 titles to his name, most of which have been adapted for film or television.
