[DUCHAMP, Marcel]. Doors, New York, Cordier & Ekstrom, 1968. Offset lithographic exhibition poster (55,9 x 39,1 cm) designed by Duchamp with cutout insert on glossy paper (27,8 x 19,5 cm); nice copy with minimal creasing and slight wear to the edges
Invitation card for the 1968 exhibition Doors at the Cordier & Ekstrom Gallery. The card references Marcel Duchamp’s Porte Gradiva, originally installed in 1937 as a glass entrance door for André Breton’s Paris gallery of the same name and destroyed shortly after the venue closed. In 1968, Duchamp authorized a Plexiglas recreation of the design for the Doors exhibition, which is also depicted on this card. This was one of the last gallery ephemera projects Duchamp supervised before his death in October 1968.
